The United Family to donate more than 50,000 pounds of apples across Texas & New Mexico
South Plains Food Bank to receive 10,530 lbs. of apples
LUBBOCK, Texas — The United Family will donate 10,530 pounds of apples to the South Plains Food Bank through the Take a Bite Out of Hunger® program on Wednesday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m.
Now in its sixteenth year, this donation marks a continuing commitment by The United Family as an original partner of the Take a Bite Out of Hunger® program, sponsored by FirstFruits Farms. FirstFruits created the program to help feed underserved communities while also bringing attention to the problem of food insecurity.
Over the course of this year’s program, United Family stores throughout Texas and New Mexico will donate more than 50,000 pounds of apples to various food banks and other organizations. Over the past 16 years, The United Family has donated more than 650,000 pounds of apples through the Take a Bite Out of Hunger® program.
