The United Family donates $500,000 at 35th Annual Jacky Pierce Charity Classic, supporting 24 non-profit organizations

- LUBBOCK, Texas — The United Family and its vendor partners have raised $500,000 for 24 nonprofit organizations through its annual Jacky Pierce Charity Classic (JPCC) golf tournament, which takes place on August 30 and 31.
- Checks were presented to the 24 groups at a recognition event on Sunday evening before tournament play on Monday. Since its inception in the early nineties, the JPCC golf tournament has raised more than $7.5 million for nonprofit organizations across Texas and New Mexico.
- Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family, said the event remains a cornerstone of the company’s charitable efforts, made possible through the continued generosity of its vendor partners. He said that the tournament’s enduring impact is reflected in the positive difference its fundraising has made in communities throughout The United Family’s region.
- “Supporting the communities we serve has always been at the heart of our mission, and for 35 years, the Jacky Pierce Charity Classic has been an important part of that commitment,” Hopper said. “The nonprofit organizations that benefit from this tournament, including United Way, provide critical services that strengthen our communities. We are proud to support their work and know these funds will make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of people.”
- Named in honor of the late Jacky Pierce, longtime produce director for United Supermarkets, the tournament remains an opportunity for charitable giving, fellowship, and community.
- “Our vendor partners have played a tremendous role in the success of this tournament over the years,” Hopper said. “Not only does this event help support important community organizations, but it also creates opportunities for companies with shared values to come together and build lasting relationships. That makes it meaningful for everyone involved.”
- The first round of the 35th annual JPCC tournament was played on Sunday morning, August 30, while another four rounds are being played on Monday, August 31. Over the two-day event, more than 600 golfers from across the country are participating in the charity tournament in Lubbock, Texas.
