Amigos grocery stores to host health fairs with free screenings & health information
LUBBOCK, Texas — Amigos grocery stores across the region will host health fairs for guests on Saturday, August 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
With a new school year right around the corner, Amigos locations want to help their communities get off to a great start with a free health fair for guests. The health fair will offer free screenings including, glucose tests, blood pressure checks, and total cholesterol screenings. The health and wellness teams will also provide detailed information on our health attributes, which can help guests achieve their wellness goals.
As with past health fairs, each location will host a variety of health-minded community partners to provide information about the health services they provide to the community. At the Lubbock Amigos location, there will also be a special appearance from Lubbock Matadors mascot, Notorious, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. At the Amarillo Amigos location, there will be a special appearance from Amarillo Sod Poodles mascot, RUCKUS, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
“We look forward to hosting our popular health and wellness fairs at our Amigos locations every year,” said Brenda Garcia, health and wellness manager/registered dietitian for The United Family. “The fairs allow us to provide offerings for our guests by providing basic wellness checks for things like blood pressure and cholesterol. It also allows community health and wellness providers an opportunity to connect with guests who may not know about their services.”
The following locations will be hosting a Health Fair:
- Amigos – Lubbock – 112 N. University
- Amigos – Plainview – 2403 N. Columbia Ave.
- Amigos – Hereford – 520 N. 25 Mile Ave.
- Amigos – Amarillo – 3300 I-40 East
